I’m Running
In my first record I covered a song written by Kristian Stanfill called Running. The reason why I chose this song back then was because there are so many people out there that are caught in bondages and unable to break free from their sin/struggles/past. But this song talks about how God strips away that sin and gives us strength to move forward and away from our past, our old self. It’s sad how some people are actually living in defeat instead of victory. They’re so indulged by sin that they become brainwashed and never see God’s blessing in their lives. Satan tells us lies and we begin to believe that sin is greater than the King of Glory. That totally steals our ability to dream big dreams and believe in a plan God has for us. This song strikes at the core of how God intended us to live our lives: victoriously!
In Isaiah 40: 28-30 this passage talks about those who wait/hope on the Lord, will give them strength and they will soar on wings like eagles. To hope and wait on the Lord means even when you’re in the midst of giving up, not being able to walk one more step, have come to a dead end, have no other options, weary, have been drowned in stress, sorrow, and tormented from every direction…you stand right in the middle of it all and still say, “God, even though all of these things are happening to me I’m going to continue and keep my hope in you and wait for you. In the midst of it all, I completely trust in you.” God’s promise is that when we wait and hope on the Lord he will comfort and renew our strength to keep moving forward. You keep hoping and he’s going to keep giving you a little bit more strength to keep going and going until you soar on wings like eagles. You’ll run and not grow weary, you’ll walk and not faint. To soar is to be completely FREE.
Just a pretty cool lil thought for today. Here are the lyrics to the song. -KB
Running (by Kristian Stanfill)
It seems I’m never free
From a past that holds me down
A past that haunts me now
But you, you break the chains
You shake the bondage off of me
And help me to believe
That I’m free to live, to breathe,
To walk with you
I’m running, I’m running
To leave the past behind
No shame to feel
No chains to hold me down
I’m running, I’m running
I’m never looking back
With you I’m strong
And I can breathe again
It’s time to move along
I hear you calling me
To bigger better dreams
And you, you give me strength
You give me everything I need
Help my eyes to see
That I’m free to live to breathe
To walk with You
I won’t look back. I’m moving on.
I’m leaving the past
The past is gone

I just have to repeat what has been said above, because it really spoke out to me:
“…talks about how God strips away that sin and gives us strength to move forward and away from our past, our old self. This song strikes at the core of how God intended us to live our lives: victoriously!”
Amen.
